Hey there!! How are you guys? Hope you all had fabulous weeks.
The highlight of my week was starting my new job. So far it is everything I thought it would be, and more. I’m pretty sure I was the most excited person at orientation this week :P…just because I’ve wanted this for so long that I feel like the luckiest person to get this opportunity. This is my first job in the tech industry and everything felt so new and exciting, and I couldn’t help but get giddy by every little thing (like our dope office with free food EVERYWHERE). My team is so smart, young and energetic and I think we’re all going to get along so well. 🙂
I also got into the groove of morning workouts this week. I was able to run or practice yoga 4 of the 5 days before work – success! These next few weeks are dedicated for base-building before official marathon training starts in January (so excited!!). I am a morning person and use to study for exams before work…it makes me so happy to do whatever I want in the mornings now, and that is running! Something about starting my day with exercise makes me feel like I can conquer anything the rest of the day (especially since most of my runs have been in pitch darkness…eek).
It was a good time to start this new job since we had our holiday party on Friday! We all gathered at the SF Exploratorium and it was quite the event with an open bar, lots of food, and cool exhibits to play around with. Great bonding with my team and my date :). Perfect way to end my first week.
The tough part was waking up the next day…I was up bright and early for the Make-A-Wake 5K. Sarah got our friends together and we dressed up as different animals to show some team spirit and support this awesome charity! I was expecting to run the 5K, but it turned out to be more of a leisurely walk which I was totally fine with given how much I drank the night before 😛
Best finish line gift…instead of medals, they gave us Build-A-Bears! ❤
Best part of a race: celebrating afterwards. We got some brunch and drinks at a Korean-fusion spot in Russian Hill.
The rest of my weekend was kept pretty low-key. It’s definitely a transition going from remote work to being in an office everyday, and so I found myself being a home-body most of the weekend recovering from the week’s activity and catching up on errands. I did get out for brunch and then chilling at the kava bar on Sunday.
That’s all I got for now. Have a grrr-eat week, my friends!
