FREE AT LAST!!!!! The main event this week was taking my 6th actuarial exam!! I didn’t go the greatest…but the amazing feeling of being DONE is completely overpowering. I’m so looking forward to the next few months of the non study life 🙂
This week/weekend was filled with lots of festivities.
Post exam celebrating
For my first night of freedom, I decided to #treatmyself and go shopping! Afterward, my friend, Sean, and I went out for drinks at Juke Bar in east village. Sean and I met at Christine’s housewarming a few months ago, and we’ve been friends ever since! He’s always a ball of fun and it was the perfect night of booze, thai food, and unwinding/discovering new music.
Later in the week, Phil also finished his exam, and we celebrated at Beast Next Door in LIC. Drinks definitely taste better with a side of freedom 😉
Saturday: 10 miler + brunch + Halloween party
My weekend started off with 10 miles! My first double digit run since my last marathon!! Boy did it feel REALLY great to reach that level again. I was suppose to run 8 but decided at one point to just go for it – I def feel a lot better about my half in 2 weeks after this weekend.
Afterward, I headed to midtown to grab brunch with Trish, my old roommate. I had a brief hiatus from doing brunches, and by brief I mean 1 year…at one point last year I decided to boycott brunches because I thought they were overrated and overpriced. I still do think that, but I didn’t want to pass up a “slot” of the weekend with my newfound freedom, so here I was.
I hadn’t seen Trishy in a long time, and it was so heartwarming to catch up. We are definitely going to make an effort to see each other more, and even talked about a possible fall trip together!
Straight from brunch, I headed to Michael’s to buy some supplies for my Halloween costume. It all came together pretty last minute, but overall a huge success! I decided to be a hershey’s kiss – bought the top, ribbon, and marker all for under $25!
Then, it was time to head to Sean’s apartment as he and his roommates were throwing a Halloween party!! It was SUCH a blast. It was so fun to ask people about there costumes – the evening was spent chatting away with old and new friends and drinking some cool concoctions (dry ice was involved).
Sunday: boozy brunch
The highlight of the day was getting some close friends together for boozy brunch! We went to San Marzano in East Village. This was a special one since it was the first time my two best friends, Michelle and Christine, met, finally! It was such a great time with some great pals, and one of the best & cheapest brunch spots I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend.
Note to self – not a great idea to do boozy brunch after a night of drinking…luckily the rest of the day was spent chillaxing at the apartment 🙂
