Weekend favorites in SF: Ocean beach at sunset + tacos in the Mission + Japan Town lunch date + Presidio hike

I hope you had a great start to your week! Last week was a busy one as I was running around doing errands for a big event coming up that I’ll talk more about likely in next week’s post. 😉 By the time the weekend rolled by, I was excited to have some down time and do some of my favorite outdoorsy things in SF.

After work on Friday, Joe and I wanted to get outside and welcome the weekend with a drive to the coast. So we got in the car and drove 20-minutes until we hit Ocean Beach. 🙂 I sometimes forget how lucky I am to live so close to the California coast, and each time I visit it takes my breath away. Ocean Beach has the best sunsets in the city (facing west), and this one did not disappoint.

After our golden hour adventure, we drove to the Mission for dinner. We chose our favorite Mexican spot, West of Pecos. They have “puffy” tacos on the menu that are my favorite. It was the perfect start to the weekend.

Saturday was another beautiful day, and a lot of it was filled with running around doing errands. Joe and I did get out for lunch at our favorite spot in Japan Town. We eat here at least once a month. 🙂 I love their eggplant dish and Joe always gets the chicken katsu curry.

After a full day out-and-about, we spent the evening playing Super Mario Odyssey. I mentioned in my last post I recently picked up playing my favorite childhood video games again…well when I pick up a new hobby, I tend to get obsessive with it, and I beat the entire Super Mario Odyssey in one week! I don’t want to admit how much time I spent on it last week…:P it’s been a stress reliever and fun way to bond with Joe too.

Sunday’s main event was going on our favorite hike in the Presidio. I’ve probably done this hike over 50 times and it does not get old. 🙂 There is one area that is a tree nursery – previously it was a dirt lot without much going on, but this time it was full of baby trees that took off. I’m coming up on 5 years living in San Francisco, and for the first time it feels like I’ve lived here for-EVER as I’m literally seeing a lifecycle of trees.

The best part of this hike are the epic viewpoints of the coast, especially after walking under the wooded portion leading up to it.

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
