Happy Monday!! After a busy few weeks of apartment hunting and moving to my new place in the Haight, I was finally able to start enjoying my new spot last week. I’ve been an early bird lately waking up everyday 5:30-6am. I usually start the day with coffee + computer errands while watching the sunrise through my third-story window, followed by a yoga or pilates class. I’ve been loving my new routine chasing the sun; hopefully I can keep it up. ๐

It’s been an exciting week of receiving my furniture/decor that I ordered online and putting my whole vision together, and I’m happy to see it pretty much at the finish line! I was so eager to have my apartment completely decorated, but now that itโs complete I’m sad it’s over and wondering what I should do with my time now ๐

I feel so grateful for my first little adult apartment. Itโs been SO nice having my own space, and after only a week here itโs hard to imagine how I shared such small apartments with roommates for so many years. I will post a full video tour here soon, but for now letโs go onto the weekend which was filled with lots of time outdoors and exploring my new neighborhood.
Saturday: Plant shopping + Golden Gate Park picnic #1
The weekend started with another early morning and at-home yoga class. Joe woke up a little later and we headed out for some plant shopping for my new pad. We headed to Japan Town and checked out an Asian plant store, but between not seeing anything I liked and the expensive prices, I ended up not purchasing anything. Luckily we stopped by Joe’s place and realized there was no need to buy plants since his garden is full of goodies! Joe will be planting his greenhouse plant-babies in the backyard soon, which means there will be lots of options for me to take ๐ (I’m so glad I have a partner who gardens). In the meantime, I took one of his large snake plants and it’s absolutely perfect in my living room.

After plant shopping, we headed to Whole Foods to pick up some sandwiches and set out a picnic blanket in Golden Gate Park. I am SO happy my apartment is just a few blocks away from the park. Being near nature was my #1 requirement when choosing an apartment (my old Marina apartment was 2 blocks from the ocean), and Golden Gate park is the perfect nature escape. I will definitely be spending lots of time here ๐

Later on, Rene texted us saying she was also going to the park, and we spontaneously met up with her and her friends from Guam. Rene also lives in the Haight (2 blocks from me to be exact ๐ ) and I’m so glad we can quickly meet up now as neighbors.

We stayed in the park until sunset, and then had a chill evening of eating leftovers + watching a movie.
Sunday: Buena Vista + Golden Gate park picnic #2
After a week of waking up super early, I finally slept in on Sunday. We had a slow morning and got out for a morning walk in Buena Vista park. Buena Vista is a lot smaller than Golden Gate park; it’s basically one large hill with sweeping views of the city and climbing it sure got our heart rate up. I’m happy to have different park options in the neighborhood. ๐

Back at the apartment, I tidied up a bit and worked on some final touches to my apartment decor. I bought these mason jars for kitchen storage and made these DIY signs. I’m trying to add small touches around the apartment to make it multi-lingual ๐

Later on, Joe and I headed back to Golden Gate park for a second picnic. We met up with some of Joe’s friends from work who I’ve gotten to know over the last year. It was nice to see everyone again for the first time in a few months and soak up more sun rays.

And just like that itโs Monday again and a new week ahead. Hope you all find some joy this week! ๐
