Happy holidays to you all!! Life here has been incredibly relaxing in upstate New York in my childhood home, with days mostly spent with the family with random events here and there. The past three weeks on the east coast have been wonderful, and I can’t believe I’m leaving tomorrow! I’m definitely excited to go back to sunny, warm(er) San Francisco, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty bittersweet leaving my family as I’ve just loved soaking up all this family time.
This post won’t have much structure since my past week didn’t have much structure either 😛
Lots of sushi and shopping took place before Christmas. I think I hit up the mall a total of 3 times!
Coming home = haircuts for everyone! I don’t know how they live without me 😉
Catching up with my Uncle Moses at a new, hip spot in the Hudson Valley. He really is the best.
My whole family is a bunch of chocoholics, such that we need to divide our chocolate evenly, ha!
Sissy and I went on an afternoon, winter-y hike at Locust Grove. The views were wonderful at golden hour!
Lots of baking took place in our household. Jason came over one day and we challenged ourselves by making kouign amanns. Other highlights: tiramisu, apple crisps, and cinnamon rolls!
Mom’s famous dumplings on the winter solstice.
Lots of great presents this year – our family nailed it!
Sibling photo after church ❤
Lastly, I ran 1000 miles this year!!! My highlight mileage year yet!
My next stop – spending this weekend in Lake Tahoe for the Snow Globe Music Festival. “The fam,” Janice and Princess will all be there! No better way to end this year at the place these friendships began <3. I hope you all have a super fun new years with loved ones!!
I love kouign amanns, but it seems too intimidating to make them. How was it?

It wasn’t too hard actually! You just have to work fast enough so the butter doesn’t melt. Here’s the recipe we used: https://www.tastingtable.com/cook/recipes/kouign-amann-recipe-homemade-french-pastry-laminated-dough
