So much to be thankful for this week. On the running front, I spontaneously signed up and ran the Golden Gate Half Marathon yesterday and ended up ringing in a sub-2!!! My heart is so full. I’ll have a full race recap for you guys this week. Trust me, I have a LOT to say about it 🙂
Even before the successful half marathon on Sunday, I had a really strong running week, mentally more than anything. Up until this week, I was feeling unprepared and pretty lukewarm about the race, but it was actually last Monday’s run when everything just clicked and I finally got excited for this marathon – I call it my “breakthrough” run, possibly the most important run of this cycle yet.
On this 8-miler, I was thinking about some recent personal stuff that was making me feel less confident than usual – life in your 20s can definitely be filled with lots of insecurity and loneliness…but something about being on my favorite trail at sunset and being in running motion, I had a moment when I said to myself, “wow…you’re strong girl,” and I let go of all the self-doubt that I’d been harboring all cycle and felt like my heart was finally 100% in this now (only took 9 weeks to get here…ha). Then the half marathon on Sunday was just icing on the cake to this very empowering week.
