Relaxing beach weekend in Miami

Hello, hello! Last week, I was in Miami for a work conference, and Joe and I decided to stay a few extra days and make a trip out of it. This was our first trip since our mini-moon in Disney Land last fall, and boy were we ready for a vacation. While the trip was short, we both got a lot out of the change in scenery. We’ve loved spending our winter in mild North Carolina, but there’s nothing like the warm tropical vibes of Miami that instantly brightens your mood.

I personally LOVE Miami. My first time visiting was in 2016 for a girl’s trip (side note – this was one of my first blog posts ever, and it was quite entertaining to reread). Ever since that trip, I had a great impression of Miami – it’s such a balanced, beautiful, and diverse destination – I was excited to visit again and share these memories with Joe. This time around, there was less emphasis on partying as it was a purely relaxing vacation.

We stayed in Miami Beach on the mid-north side of the beach. I chose this area since it’s calmer and away from the spring breakers in South Beach. πŸ˜› The area was super charming as it felt stuck in time in the 50’s. The small colorful buildings, Art Deco vibes, vintage cars everywhere, Cuban restaurants…such a unique city.

Our weekend was basically filled with three things: beaches, walking, and eating. We spent a good amount of time lying on the sand and basking in the sun. Miami Beach is absolutely beautiful. The water is a pretty light aqua, and it was even warm enough to swim. I have to say, I like East Coast beaches better as West Coast beaches are more rugged (i.e. full of rocks) and have colder water. I feel it’s more manageable to have a classic “beach day” on the East Coast.

Does anyone else have crazy baby hairs?

Miami Beach is super walkable as there’s a long boardwalk/pedestrian path taking you from one end to the other. We were constantly finding ourselves taking walks on it, especially in the mornings and evenings when the sun was less strong.

We got pedicures one day. I got a regular pedicure while Joe was in it for the massage chairs that you sit on at nail salons. πŸ˜›

Lastly, the food was phenomenal. We ate very well on this trip. I loved all the outdoor seating, cute cafes, and amazing Cuban and Mexican food. I’m still drooling looking at those fish tacos – so memorable!

A short-and-sweet post for a short-and-sweet vacation. See you next time, friends!
