Life lately + our engagement photos!

Hello, friends! I know my blogging has slowed down over the last month. Outside of some friend activities on weekends, weekdays have been super busy. I’ve been at my new job for one month now (time flies – it feels like I just told you all about it!). Needless to say, I’ve been focused on my new job and settling into a new routine.

Despite the usual anxiety around starting a new job, my spirits are high. It’s a great feeling to see my career finally in a good spot, something I struggled with since returning from my gap year in 2023 (and something I didn’t share on this blog until now…). Rebuilding my career has been over a year in the making, and I’m finally letting me be happy and proud of myself. I know I’m probably in a honeymoon phase, but I’m soaking in this new, exciting chapter.

Over the last month, I’ve had to adjust to a brand new routine, as my commute & hours are longer than ever. On commuting days, I’m out of the apartment 13-14 hours a day. Luckily, I’m on a “hybrid” schedule, and working from home on some days have been wonderful for creating balance.

Looking back, another thing that gave me balance over the month was keeping up my workouts. I’m really glad I carved out time for exercise each day. After one month at my new job, I’m still feeling energetic. I try to start each day with a walk on the track — usually, I have coffee in bed, but now, I bring my coffee on a walk as the only time to get extra steps is before work. Something I’ve noticed – going outside in the morning makes me drink less coffee, which has caused a positive energy loop. 🙂

After doing a free trial at Corepower Yoga a few weeks ago, I signed up for an unlimited monthly membership. This was my saving grace last month. I’ve been going ~5x per week while reserving Soul Cycle 1x per week. Having an unlimited membership is wonderful because I don’t feel like I need to maximize every workout as I prioritize just getting some movement, especially on weekdays with long hours at my desk. 🙂 I’ve been fitting in Corepower in the evenings – I usually prefer morning workouts, but it’s a small concession for my new schedule.

Maybe in a few months, the burnout will hit, but I can sustain this for now. 😉

Another random tangent – I’m the type of person who eats the same breakfast for several weeks at a time, and then I move onto something else. Right now, I’m in love with overnight oats. I’ve always been a hot oatmeal person, but switching to overnight oats helps me save time in the mornings. I’ve been experimenting with different toppings. Right now, my favorite combo is old fashion oats, chia seeds, almond milk, powdered peanut butter, frozen blueberries, and greek yogurt. Powdered peanut butter is a new discovery – the nutrition profile is quite attractive, and I’ve been using it more than regular PB lately.

Lastly, in my last post, I shared our friends threw me and Joe a surprise engagement party. The professional photos came in, and I wanted to share some of my favorites. Thank you for stopping by today!
