Week of workouts: March 2024

Hi pals! It’s been a minute since I shared a week-of-workouts post. I like to periodically share what a typical week of workouts looks like for me as it brings me back to the roots of this blog. Flashback to the days when I used to write about every single run…

My exercise routine is always evolving, but as always, my workout philosophy is centered on overall movement and longevity. I hope you enjoy this post! 🙂

Monday: Yoga sculpt

My week started off with an at-home yoga sculpt class on Kaylie Daniel’s Youtube channel. I had about 487 things on my to-do list on Monday, so I wanted a short and sweet workout before a busy day. I was in the mood for a full-body workout to get every muscle moving and also to assess how my body was feeling for the week. I usually go to Kaylie’s channel for low-impact days as she specializes in light/no-weight workouts.

Truthfully, I was in such a rush that I only did 20 minutes out of this video. But I was happy to get some movement and my endorphins for the day.

Tuesday: Leg day + core strength (no weights)

The next day, I did my first leg day in a few weeks. A few weeks ago, I noticed some knee pain from what I think was due to lifting. I took time off of my legs for a few weeks (which was REALLY hard to do as anyone who’s been injured knows!), and I finally feel good again. This was the first week I was able to do a full workout split which made me feel so grateful.

To ease into leg day, I wanted to start off with super low intensity, so I did a bodyweight workout by Sydney Cummings (my go-to for any strength work). It was refreshing to use no equipment. I believe you can do a lot with just your body weight, and I’m going to stay at this level for a while until I regain my leg strength.

Wednesday: Upper body strength

To follow yesterday’s leg day, the next day was focused on upper body: arms, chest, back, and shoulders. I’ve been pretty consistent with upper body over the last few weeks so this workout felt strong! Even though I feel an imbalance between my upper and lower body right now, I’m trying to remember that my body isn’t always going to be perfectly balanced, and feeling strong is more important than aesthetics.

My simple living room gym. 🙂 I am such an at-home workout gal.

Thursday: REST DAY

Friday: 5-mile walk to Ocean Beach

Friday had absolutely gorgeous weather, so after work, I took a long walk to Ocean Beach (5 miles from my apartment). I just love this walk as most of it is through Golden Gate Park. Joe joined me for the first portion – we picked up coffee from our favorite neighborhood spot and walked through the Conservatory of Flowers.

After Joe left, I walked the remaining ~4 miles on my own. I popped in my headphones (currently listening to Swan Lake after our ballet night last week), and the walk flew by. It’s always an amazing treat to reach Ocean Beach. There’s something so heavenly about it; I’m in awe every time I visit. I sat on a log and meditated for 10 minutes before taking the subway back home.

Saturday: Soul Cycle class

Finally, the weekend! I had a fairly busy day of errands, so I signed up for a 7:30am Soul Cycle class to get my workout done early. Towards the end of last year, I deactivated my ClassPass account since I was working out at home more. I started up ClassPass again just for Soul Cycle as I found that cycling was the perfect low-impact exercise for my knee issues. It’s my only cardio.

The class was Bad Bunny + Cardi B themed, so needless to say, I woke up immediately. The instructor was so energetic which I needed for an early class. I absolutely love Soul Cycle classes and always leave in the best mood; since they are a bit pricey, it’s my way of “treating myself” once a week. 🙂

Sunday: Yoga

I woke up on Sunday feeling pretty sore, and I wanted nothing more than a good yoga session. I went back to Kaylie Daniels as her yoga flows are so creative and fun. The perfect workout to end the week. 🙂

  1. good stuff…I thinking about giving either the 75 day hard, or 75 day soft to reboot my head. since the new year my training has sucked……….am thinking, I need to do this like a job, a habit I have got to get back into.
