Hardly Strictly Festival + good for my soul + must try protein-smoothie shake!

Life has been moving at 100 miles/minute ever since day one of moving to SF, but this past week I finally spent some alone time for (what it feels like) the first time in 4 months. I spent a good portion of this past weekend just with myself, and it was just what I needed!

Nevertheless, I still have lots of randomness to share with you guys. πŸ™‚ Here are the highlights:

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

The highlight of my weekend was getting all my favorite people for the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park. This festival is completely FREE and one of SF’s funnest events – they highlight local bands and a TON of people come out for some good country music and sunshine πŸ™‚

But first, brunch with Briana in the Richmond. I chilled at a cafe by myself earlier – loved the open seating outside!

I hadn’t seen Briana since my birthday party so it was so refreshing to catch up on the past month and swap our fun stories. We then made our way to the festival!

Everyone else joined us soon soon after – my girlfriends, Marina bros, etc…it was a huge mosh posh of friends from different circles but my heart is so beyond happy that everyone has been meeting and clicking lately! Our circle seems to be getting bigger and bigger and I couldn’t be happier about that!!

Cheap Trick stole the show.

Hardly Strictly was hands down one of my favorite SF-traditions so far. No one really knows about it unless you live in SF, and it felt so nice to part of this locals-gem πŸ™‚ I’ll be back next year!

Voice memos with Michelle

My best friend Michelle (in NYC) and I have nailed down the whole long-distance-friendship thing ever since we went our separate ways for college. Our thing lately has been sending each other voice memos to keep each other updated on the happenings of our lives.

This past week was kind of a crazy one for both me and Michelle…and sending each other several of these voice memos back and forth every day was so healing for my soul. We joke that we both view our voice memos as “spending time with each other.”Β I’m so thankful that the world is getting smaller through technology because through our constant communication, it really did feel like my best friend was with me the entire week through everything <3.

New favorite protein-smoothie recipe

I have been hooked on smoothies ever since my brother bought me a Ninja Blender 2 years ago. I usually drink a green smoothie and a protein shake separately after my runs, but lately they have been tasting so BLAH.

And so this past week, I looked in my fridge to see if I could mix things and possibly combine the two…I got the idea from Julie’s blogΒ to start sneaking in frozen cauliflower into smoothies for those extra vitamin and smooth, frothy flavor, and so I went for it. The shake was oh-so simple to make and each sip tasted like heaven. I don’t think I can go back to normal protein shakes ever again ;).

Add these ingredients in any proportion you want!

– 1 banana

– coconut milk + almond milk

-1 scoop of Gold Standard’s whey protein powder (vanilla or cookies and creme flavor)

-frozen cauliflower

Enjoy!!
