The final stretch

I am 38 weeks pregnant!

I cannot believe that I have less than 2 weeks until my due date. Truly, I think I’m in denial, even though I know deep down we’re ready to bring home a baby at any point. Between buying our home, moving, and tying up loose ends at work, I’ve hardly had time to process how much our lives are going to change so soon.

The best part of the third trimester has been the excitement and overwhelming support from friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers. One thing that surprised me was how much people wanted to contribute: bringing us meals, gifting baby items, and contributing in different ways. I’m beyond grateful for all the love and hospitality during this time.

Physically, I’m doing pretty well. The main challenge right now is sleep – I cannot lie down on my back or side anymore because the baby pushes on my diaphragm, making it hard to breathe. So the only position I can sleep is sitting upright… 😛

Although the third trimester has its own challenges, nothing feels harder than the 1st trimester when I was so sick. With that perspective, I feel pretty good! I don’t feel like she NEEDS to come out yet. She’s more than welcome to hang out there, mostly because I have so much to wrap up at work. I will probably be working up until going to the hospital.

I can now relate to Sherry from Gilmore Girls (if you know, you know).

Onto some other topics: we have officially settled in the new home. Moving this time around was surprisingly easy. I’ll take a cross-town move over a cross-country move any day. My mantra right now is to be patient and not feel like I need to fill every room with furniture right away. I would love to see this home filled and decorated, but I know it’s going to take time. The journey is the reward. 🙂

As usual, no one is happier than our cats. I feel like they get happier each time we move. They are obsessed with our screen porch and spend all their time out there enjoying the warmth and watching birds.

Joe and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary at a Thai restaurant. It was nice to get out and explore the area together. Joe is the most amazing husband, and I couldn’t imagine doing life with anyone else. ❤

Has anyone else bought Halloween candy way too early and already finished half the bag? I hope there is enough for our trick-or-treaters.

The next I blog, I will be a mama! Be well, my friends!
