Hey friends, and happy first week of March! This year is flying by, and I feel like the days are getting noticeably longer with Spring around the corner.
Last week was an interesting one, to say the least. There’s been a lot of stuff going on at work…that being said, I was grateful to have two fun activities over the week which were very welcome distractions.
The highlight of the week was seeing our first ballet! The San Francisco Ballet is featuring showing Swan Lake. I’ve always admired the art of ballet (partly due to an obsession with Natalie Portman in Black Swan), and I thought it was finally time to see an actual show. Swan Lake was the perfect choice for our first ballet as it’s so iconic and I was familiar with the music & storyline.

We weren’t sure what to expect from our first ballet experience, but it exceeded our expectations in every way! The moment we stepped into the theater, we were greeted by the ornate architecture and the energy of other guests.

We got there early to explore the grounds. We walked around with our drinks and took photos all around the beautiful building.

Then, we made our way into the theater, an opera house with 4-levels filled with beautiful touches. I splurged and got us seats close(ish) to the front which was the BEST decision as we could see every detail. π

The show was broken up into 4 acts with 2 intermissions over 2.5 hours. The dancing was absolutely beautiful and so engaging – the show flew by! I admired every dancer onstage as there’s something superhuman-like about ballet dancers. I find it so special the way they can move their bodies in extreme positions while expressing emotions to tell a story. Also…the music was phenomenal! I enjoyed listening to the professional pit orchestra just as much as the dancing. A lot of the music was familiar as it turns out Swan Lake is so engrained into our culture.

I loved every minute of the ballet…and so did Joe! To quote him: “it was life changing.” We both agreed the ballet is definitely something we’ll be attending again. I just can’t believe how long it took for me to finally see my first one. π The rest of the week was filled with watching endless YouTube videos to learn everything about Swan Lake.

Other than that, another highlight of the week was seeing our friend group for Rodaan’s birthday! We all got together on Saturday for drinks & catching up. I loved nothing more than to see friends after a tough week and reminding myself what’s important in life. β€

Iβm also keeping my spirits up by planning some trips this spring and starting wedding planning again. I took a few weeks off, and I feel energized to start up again. Thank you all for reading this post, and see you next week. π
