We are in the thick of the rainy winter in San Francisco. This past weekend was mostly centered around indoor activities as we filled our time with good food, relaxation, and meeting new friends.
On Saturday, Joe and I started off the weekend with a walk in Golden Gate Park. Even though the weather was gloomy, we committed to getting outside at least once this weekend. We saw magnolias blooming in the park which was a treat. I’m excited to see the different plants sprout this Spring.

Later in the morning, we had a new activity planned…a trip to the Stonetown Galleria! This shopping mall is on the outskirts of San Francisco, and I always wanted to check it out. It seemed like everyone in SF had the same idea because the mall was SUPER full. But it was worth getting out and spending time on our feet this weekend.
We started off with Shake Shack for lunch. There were so many yummy food choices at this mall, and it was hard to choose just one. The food alone is a reason for us to visit again.

After lunch, Joe and I separated as I did some shopping while Joe sat in a massage chair (this is our usual shopping arrangement 😛 ). At one point, I was walking, and a man ran by me and took my shopping bags! I screamed at the top of my lungs before realizing it was Joe…we got some embarrassing looks, and I lost 5 years off my life.

In the evening, we had another fun activity…a dinner party for Candlemas! Our friend, Guillaume, is from France, and he hosted a dinner party for this holiday. I had to look it up to learn that Candlemas celebrates 40 days after Christmas when Jesus was presented at the Temple. For French people, it’s also the day they eat lots and lots of crepes!
For dinner, we had racellete, another traditional French dish with potatoes, meat, and lots of melted cheese. It was simple, but very hearty and tasty.

Most of the party was filled with new faces. It was fun to meet Guillaume’s friends as everyone was very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. One familiar face was Guillaume’s adorable cat, Leo. I have to say, he is one of the cutest cats I’ve ever met. We spent time luring him around the apartment and bonding.

After dinner, it was time for crepes! I’m a sucker for crepes, so this was a treat. There were a few French people at the party who took charge of cooking the crepes, so needless to say, they were *chef’s kiss.*

On Sunday, I had a very lazy day at home. There was heavy rain all day, so I caught up on laptop errands, did some wedding planning, and watched the Grammy’s in the evening. The perfect, relaxing weekend before another week. 🙂
