Daily life during an outbreak

Hey there friends. I hope everyone is staying safe and sane during this COVID-19 outbreak. For obvious reasons, I haven’t done many fun things lately since my days have been mostly filled with staying at home. The outbreak has changed everyday life here in SF in a matter of days. Our city has officially mandated staying at home except for leaving for food or medical care.

I wanted to shoot off this post to stay connected with you all. I’ve always used this blog as a way to process and reflect what’s on my mind, and even though there is SO much going on in this world right now, I’d love to share what’s going on on my own little bubble here in SF.

The outbreak is humbling, to say the least. It puts things in check to see the virus affecting some of the most powerful members of society who seemed untouchable. It’s a reminder that we’re all vulnerably sharing this earth, and we should all be dutiful and kind to one another.

During this crazy time, I can’t help but feel super grateful. I still have a steady pay-check (and can work remotely), I have food in my pantry, I’m in a city with lots of outdoorsy things to keep me busy, and my loved ones are still healthy. Joe and I had to cancel a trip to Arizona at the end of March and postpone our Indonesia trip in May, but if that’s the only sacrifice we had to make, then I am incredibly fortunate. My prayers go to the millions of families who are struggling to make ends meet during this difficult time.

One positive thing to come out of this situation is that it has forced me to slow down. Just 4 weeks ago, I was the most stressed out I had ever been at work. My mind chattered around the clock thinking what to do next, how to be more efficient…now with staying indoors, I’m forced to take things slowly and enjoy the little moments.

Last weekend, I spent hours playing with Joe’s cats, reading through my new tarot cards, and jamming on my guitar (something I haven’t done in forever!). It was a rainy weekend, and Joe and I indulged in watching Silicon Valley and cooking each meal together. And when the sun finally came out, we appreciated it even more than we normally would as we took strolled through Golden Gate Park.

Life will be a whole lot of this these next few weeks. I’ll probably shift from writing about weekend updates / fun events like I typically do to more reflection posts about growth in the past year, plans for the future, etc. If there’s anything you’d like to read about or just want to connect, don’t hesitate to drop me a note. I LOVE hearing from you! 🙂

  1. Stay Safe Charlotte. Our city is not affected that hard yet as no case till now. Hope it stays the same. But this virus showed us how we had turned into almost like machines. And not living the actual life together with family and friends. Might be a positive side too of this dangerous infection.

    1. Thank you for the wishes Hiren! I’m glad you are staying safe too. I think everything has a positive side too. Spending more time with family, hobbies you wished you had more time for…

Love your photographs, by the way!
